As the organizer of the first topic of the 2022 Medical Gas Video Conference, Mr. Pasquale di Chio, a shareholder of Nippon Gas Europe, delved into the efforts made during the initial outbreak and outlined the experiences gained during the pandemic in his speech.

Mr. Di Cai pointed out that human beings can overcome many difficulties only through cooperation, and listed the Spanish flu, SARS, swine flu, Middle East respiratory syndrome and the COVID-19 that is now breaking out according to the timeline of past epidemic events. In the early stages of the pandemic, the company focused on the key areas of increased oxygen demand for high flow oxygen therapy.

Mr. Di Cai explained that because the COVID-19 caused the oxygen demand to increase significantly to more than 10 times of the usual amount, Nippon Gas employees tirelessly responded to the oxygen demand and organizational oxygen supply.

The increase in intensive care beds and the initiative to provide home oxygen therapy for patients who cannot be hospitalized have jointly alleviated the increase in the number of hospitalized patients requiring respiratory therapy.

Through a series of improvements to the existing infrastructure, Nippon Gas has achieved an unprecedented demand for medical gases. The company has implemented a work rotation policy throughout the entire supply chain, adopting intelligent work, expanding its safety procedures, and increasing inventory of medical oxygen.
